Recycling and Disposal
Information on Electrical and Electronic (old) Devices
The following notes are addressed to private households using electrical and/or electronic devices. Please pay attention to these important notes in the interest of environmentally sound disposal of old devices and your own safety.
- Notes on the Disposal of Electrical and Electronic (old) Devices and the Meaning of the Symbol According to Annex 3 to the ElektroG
Owners of old devices must ensure that these are collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Therefore, electrical and electronic waste must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and should not be placed in household trash. Instead, these old devices must be separately collected and disposed of, for example, through local collection and return systems.
Additionally, owners of old devices must separate old batteries and old accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without destruction, before handing them over to a collection point.
This does not apply if the old devices are separated by public waste disposal authorities under § 14, Paragraph 4, Sentence 4 or Paragraph 5, Sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG for the purpose of preparing them for reuse by other old devices.
The symbol according to Annex 3 to the ElektroG helps owners identify old devices that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic devices is a crossed-out waste bin on wheels, as shown below:

- Notes on the Possibilities for Returning Old Devices
Owners of old devices can return them through the return or collection systems set up and made available by public waste disposal authorities to ensure proper disposal of the old devices. In some cases, the return of electrical and electronic devices for the purpose of reusing the devices may also be possible. More detailed information can be obtained from the respective collection or return point.
Furthermore, you can return both batteries and accumulators, as well as electrical old devices that you purchased from us, free of charge.
The return of B2B old devices for the following device types:
Large devices intended solely for use outside private households
is carried out through our contracted service provider DR Deutsche Recycling Service GmbH and its certified disposal service providers.
